HST Ultra-G hydrostatic grinding spindles effectively combine extremely high rotational accuracy with exceptional vibration resistance, providing great static stiffness and a virtually infinite life span. Developed by Dr. Leonid Kashchenevsky, these hydrostatic precision grinding spindles have been effectively utilized in many applications, including:

Increased Productivity & Smoothness
Hydrostatic spindles are effective for high-precision grinding applications. But they can also substantially increase productivity in more standard grinding operations because of their high speed grinding capabilities. Higher grinding speeds allow faster feed rates. Spindle stiffness and vibration-resistance allow for faster grinding speeds, quicker "spark-out" times and eliminate grinding "chatter". Hydrostatic spindles are also able to grind parts to an extremely fine surface finish due to their high operational accuracy, rotational repeatability and vibration-free rotation.
When grinding hardened steel, our Ultra-G spindles have produced extremely low surface roughness, better than 8 nanometers Ra, which can be achieved in relatively short time depending on the size of the part being ground. When grinding mirrors and other optical components, a surface roughness with Ra measurement about approximate 1 nanometer has been achieved.
